The Sky Shanty from SHI chapter 5. Sung by

https://www.airgigs.com/user/ChaneleMcGLyrics:

I remember our master called us away,

From the blood and the fire of those forlorn days.

There she did tell us “you’re ragged and spent!”

Then at her orders, to home we went.

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the south, where the fairies once played.

To the springs and the meadows, and those forest glades;

We sail to the place where we spent better days.

I remember the dances, the plays and the songs.

The crowds and the laughs as we pushed through the throng.

The shouts of our sisters were lost to the breeze.

As we leapt and spun through the boughs of the trees.

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the south, where the fairies once played.

To the springs and the meadows, and those forest glades;

We sail to the place where we spent better days.

I remember my lover and his sweet smile

Our adventures over our soaring isle.

I long for the time when I wasn’t away

But know my dear, my heart never strayed.

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the south, where the fairies once played.

To the springs and the meadows, and those forest glades;

We sail to the place where we spent better days.

I remember my lover, and his strong arms

We’d roam through the highlands and see their charms.

I can still feel his touch, in the grass where we laid

If he could see me now, what would he say?

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the south, where the fairies once played.

To the springs and the meadows, and those forest glades;

We sail to the place where we spent better days.

At last we see old faithful, beached on the rocks.

Our sisters stood upon her bones, glaring like hawks

Yet I could see how they wallow, and how their hearts burn

As they wave us past, to a home heavens spurned.

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the south, where the fairies once played.

Yet as we reach the springs and the meadows, and those forest glades;

I wish I could see something other than graves.

Where once was green beauty, a land unsurpassed

Now all that's left is the mist and the ash

I and my lover are united once more

Yet the kiss of cold stone leaves me yearning for war.

Oh the skies go dark, and the wind blows away

I stare at the place where the fairies once played.

The springs and the meadows, and those forest glades

I wish I could see something other than graves.

Our once vibrant home is so silent and still.

I drown my sorrows in the most disgusting of swill

But soon it is over, our names called once more.

I’m glad to be gone from this haunted shore.

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the north, where the damn demons lay.

I head to a battle I might not survive

But those monsters will know the whole time I’m alive.

Oh, the skies fill with stars, and the wind blows our way.

We haul to the north, where the damn demons lay.

I head to a battle I might not survive

But those monsters will know the whole time I’m alive.

But those monsters will know the whole time I’m alive!

Damn, that was so pretty! I love it :) i wouldn't be opposed to hearing more in the future😁

Adgsi5

this is beautiful and sad and sweet and I want more stuff like this. The SHI AU may have been one of the most beautiful accidents to happen to this story and world.

Sean McCook

Now I need a recording of the whore and the donkey

Old Dog

Thank you Farmer.

chakkacor

This is really great. But I propose the second line in every verse and the refrain to end in a high tone to go better with the typical shanty feeling.

Andrew Denton

How do I download this so I can put it on my phone?

Jim Murphy

How do you listen to it?

Mike lee

This is cool

Night

What a lovely surprise.

Loreheim

Beautiful song...

Loreheim

Lol am I the only one who's relistened to this several times by now?

Kat

This is awesome

Blaggard

It's a bit too complex for a sea shanty. The tone is sorta right, but that's about it. As a song ok, as a shanty no k.

Demoet

I enjoyed this quite a bit, I'm glad I came back to give it a listen. I've actually been avoiding the AU stories cause I can get stories twisted in my head if the have themes and characters to similar but this makes me want to read them both! The worst is me having to reread them to get the facts straight xD

toni990

This got me kind of choked up I'll be honest the singing was beautiful and the ending was chilling but in a good way

MARK MACKNET

This is my first read through of this story arc. I just finished going through the main series and I am hopeful that you will keep writing more on both story arc’s. This song is excellent and fits. I can see Minyan and Gramps getting married and having the girls sing this song in the main story arc.

ScarletIce

Who's cutting all these damn onions!
