The first jail on Surcease was made because Leah/Songstress kept getting arrested for disturbing the peace so often. It was a broom closet that was emptied out and the word 'jail' written on the door. Before that, any girls who got in enough trouble to be arrested were just politely asked to wait in the break room, which they did.

The Kaedekin on Nightmare are currently proud of the fact their planet has no record of crime and no criminals... and are quietly dreading the day that changes.

Pajhadin have no nudity taboo when it comes to clothes because their mode of perceiving the world around them lets them see through one layer of solid material, and the majority of their civilization developed in a warm climate. They do have a sex taboo, because they can see through one layer of solid material, and the majority of their civilization developed in a warm climate.

While they have no material proof, the Kaedekin are pretty sure that certain geographic features on Surcease are part of a something's corpse. Strangely, they can find no evidence of a planet-wide extinction event this impact crater might have caused.
