Significance and Impact of Median vs. Average Net Worth

My vid last week tripped some folks up in this area.

Average Net Worth: This is calculated by summing all individual net worths and dividing by the number of individuals. It can be heavily skewed by extremely high or low values, such as the net worth of billionaires, which can inflate the average and provide a less accurate picture of typical net worth.

Median Net Worth: This is the middle value when all individual net worths are ranked from lowest to highest. It is less affected by outliers and provides a more accurate representation of the typical net worth within a population.

Trends in Median Net Worth by Age

Net worth generally increases with age, peaking in the 60s. This trend is due to the accumulation of assets over time, such as homeownership, investments, and retirement savings.

Individuals in their 20s have the lowest median net worth, reflecting the early stages of career and financial building. Let's change this... .

These numbers speak to very hard times for the majority of people when the fiat ponzi unwinds. The numbers overtly expose the reliance of the population on ‘social security ‘- and the purchasing power of that entitlement will be massively eroded via inflation. Jame’s mission of helping others find a lifeline is all the more laudable.

But still saying that a million isn't a lot of money in many videos. Maybe it's time to take on board that most people are not in the same top 0.5% of global wealth.

Long way to go and not a lot of time in life to do it. Almost 50 and below average. Makes me so frustrated at my younger self.

Always like this because I get to feel ahead! Even if I am behind once you factor in 4% inflation for the rest of my life.

I'm personally surprised by these numbers. I would have thought lower. I am below average....comeuppance for me today. I'll have to start being nicer to people.

I thought the US median was higher- it’s clear to all of us that we would have to go 3 to 5x to make freedom happen! (Keep on seeing cyber trucks every day. Real fun! People seem to love it…

Is there a category for 120-year-olds. That's probably where I'd be.

At least you are in the right space now. I’m sure you’ve invested wisely so come this time next year you will be above average.

From the UK and there are many no matter what the age have never seen £5k in their bank account. I was told in 2017 if you have £10k in your bank you are broke. Today I would say this figure would be £20k.

Being a millionaire is still pretty rare even in the US. Something like 1 out every 14 or so people. The narrative that 1 million is not enough and in some circles I’ve seen that you need a minimum of 3 million to be “comfortable”. I don’t agree nor disagree with the numbers, but the data paints a pretty grim picture
