Per the Q today, sharing as promised

Rem the following:

  • rehypothecation risk is real

  • custody matters

  • only do this with blue chip players like Cantor and Fidelity

  • only do 25% LTV - not worth liquidation risk - ALWAYS opt for a lower LTV ratio to provide a buffer against price volatility.

Buy Borrow Die will soon be a thing for Bitcoiners.

Just watched this yesterday - a discussion on BTC and Real Estate Risk : https://youtu.be/WCikgxb8czA?si=Yrl9IGWhP7EfvMF3 There are some battle tested players Out there now, survived the bear market, like unchained capital, Ledn, NEXO, that all offer loans against BTC, interest rates are pretty high though around 12%, also a newer company call Moon Mortgage, and Thorchain but not sure how battle tested they are though.

Good info.

You had talked about not having any companies you would trust before. Have you changed your mind on that? Are thare any you would consider trusting? SALT Loaning really pushed their brand hard at Bitcoin 2024 Conference. I also find it funny that Xapo Bank was the number one sponsor at the Bitcoin 2024 Conference and you can't get an account if you are in the US.

thanks for the info james, love it

Nik

It would be great if James could do a full video some day on the buy/borrow/die strategy. How is works exactly. How people have traditionally done it i.e. artwork, stocks and compare assets. Thank you.

I love this strategy, it's what I've been waiting for! Definitely need strong player unlike Celsius and others out there right now.

Can’t wait to learn more about this

Ace Buchannon

Can there be a step by step for dummies version of this?

Jim The Pilot

James, can you do a hypothitical example? Using a 1 BTC, 5 BTC and for those lucky ones 10 BTC. Assume Fidelity. When I store my BTC at Fidelity, how does that work, do I have to give them my keys? I assume they will use my BTC as collateral and lend/trade/option for their own profit. What % interest can I expect to make?

Bid Coinman

James, need an update on this topic, please! Who has thoughts on where the best place to borrow against Bitcoin would be? Some of us are looking to leverage some, not sure if the Coinbase route is the right way, or if Defi (no 1099-DA trigger) is better, or more risky. Such as going through Morpho directly. Either way... I'm scared to leverage up!! lol - But I need some liquidity. Any ideas would be awesome. thanks.
