I've always been inspired by the great one of them being Steve Jobs. I thought this one would be worth sharing today, considering major thinking about pivoting their careers. I always say if you love what you do never work a day in your life and that is so true.

Key Lessons From Steve:

  • Passion as a Driver: Jobs suggests that loving what you do is crucial for producing outstanding work. When you're passionate about something, you're naturally more motivated, creative, and dedicated, which leads to higher quality outcomes.

  • The Journey of Discovery: The advice to "keep looking" until you find what you love speaks to the importance of exploration and patience. It acknowledges that discovering your true passion might take time, and that it's okay not to have it figured out immediately.

  • Refusal to Settle: "Don't settle" is a call to resist complacency. It encourages continuous growth and the pursuit of something meaningful rather than accepting mediocrity or choosing an easier path out of convenience.

At his memorial Steve Jobs wanted a copy of the “Autobiography of a Yogi” by Paramahansa Yogananda handed out to everybody- Actualize yourself- realize yourself…

I really don't like quotes like these and I recall the exact one coming across my email, from this channel, maybe a year ago. If you have the luxury of not settling, great, hold out for what you love. But the vast majority of people in the world work pay cheque to pay cheque and are just happy to have a job that covers their bills. This is horrible advice for someone in such a position. My kids need to eat, I'm not holding out to be an astronaut.

I have spent 30 yrs in a career I hated. Reasonably paid enabled me to travel the world own property etc Looked elsewhere where my passion lied but mortgages children etc etc needed to paid for. No excuse but many work pay check to pay check and are I wouldn’t say are happy but have accepted this is as good as it gets.

It's good to live with your parents while you are searching and then building. Start young. Start old. But at least start. As Dan Pena says, "ACT, ACT, ACT, ACT..."

Loving what you do doesn't mean that you have to give up a job that you don't really like because you need it to meet expenses. It means using the time you have available to keep learning about what interests you. You might just create the conditions to go into it full time, and even if that doesn't happen, at you are having some fun exploring what fulfills you.
