The image is a tweet suggesting that BlackRock and Fidelity investors purchased 533,000 Bitcoin in 7 months. It humorously calculates that if they continue at this rate, they would hold 22 million Bitcoin in 20 years, which is impossible because the total supply of Bitcoin is capped at 21 million.

Reality is never more than 15M BTC - so only 13.6 years left, assuming all people sell all their bags.

Supplies is already drying up on the exchanges. Supplies will be scarce in 4yrs after the next halving

Betteryourfuture

I believe this is the definition of scarcity and price appreciation of your bitcoin... get one for your children...

Daisy Dog

I still wonder, is the value real or make believe?

Maseface

Think of it like a Pokémon card, is it’s value actually real? Or is it made up? Well, it’s real because some are very scarce and people want things that are scared because they go up in value….doesn’t matter what it is

Might it be possible that one day retail investors won’t even have access to actual Bitcoin, but just in fractionalized form (like Satoshis) or indirectly thru ETFs or company stocks?

Clark

More proof that, no matter what, Bitcoin will survive.

Clark

Satoshis are Bitcoin. Fractionalization is built into the digital concept of Bitcoin. Part of the slow adoption of Bitcoin is not fully appreciating this concept. One cent is a piece of a dollar, it isn't separate. It could be possible that even satoshis get split, like a half penny, way back when. That is certainly possible, though I doubt either of us will live to see it.

(533,000/7) * (12*20) (76,142.86) * (240) = 18,274,286 - 16,000,000 (max? circulation) = 2,274,286

Will be more like 100 years if Bitcoin price keeps increasing.

Larry

Also, the price will continue to go up with each new million purchase; making it exponentially more expensive to purchase.
