I wanted to share my thoughts and plans for my investment strategy.

Current Position and Market Trends

I've maintained a cash position of approximately 12% throughout the summer, anticipating the SEP crash. This conservative approach has been challenging to maintain but i am a big believer in historical patterns:

  • August and September have historically been the weakest months for the S&P 500, with average returns of -0.6% and -0.7% respectively since 1950.

  • The "September Effect" has seen the Dow Jones Industrial Average decline by an average of 1% in September over the past 100 years.

  • Bitcoin has experienced an average decline of 7.5% in September over the past 5 years.

  • Historically, crypto markets have shown a tendency to dip in Q3 before rallying in Q4.

Strategy Moving Forward

Given these factors, I plan to gradually deploy some of my cash reserves and re-enter select positions. This approach is based on:

  • The possibility that we may be experiencing the anticipated "September Crash" now or gradually throughout the month. I don't know. I also don't know if we had it early due to the carry trade unwind early August.

  • There is potential that the worst market conditions may already be behind us.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin is dumping hard, which is unusual for a Sunday.

What will happen to crypto markets on November 5th if Kamala wins? I’m hoping we can be ok regardless who is president. Would like to know if we should prepare for markets to panic dump on November 5th.

Like James, I believe in the Summer Doldrums. Maybe more so. Essentially I have been mainly cash since July and started buying again August 5th. I still have about 15% cash. I use tax-free accounts so I don’t have to factor in any tax burden when selling. I would not do what I do if I were in taxable accounts. Hang in there 🤞

What happened to Michael Saylor buying $2b BTC 🤔

Thank you James. 🙏🏻❤️

I also observed that... Strange Sunday dump by BTC? Does this indicate retail investors being absent/low participation, and institutional investors are out for labor day long weekend?

Also talk of a possibility of a Yuan/dollar unwind with rate cuts. Worst may still be yet to come.

Donaldo

As long as BTC stays above the 12 mo moving average at around 52,500 we are ok. Things will start to improve after the Sept 18 rate cut. Grab another handful of patience out of the bag, all will be fine.

There are about 30 days until the banana zone of the BTC 4 year cycle. If that doesn’t happen the whole 4 year cycle model will be broken and there will be MASSIVE fear/selloff. If it does happen well….it’s the banana zone again! We are all about to be extremely happy or we will all be the most REKT investors the world has known since the Great Depression. Good luck!🫡🙏🤟✌️ 30 days +/-

Alas expenses worse this time of year and mounting other costs means dry powder is non-existent! Going to have to rotate assets if chance to buy comes. Still am hopeful Bitcoin late Bull parabola starts by end of September!

Rising Sun

I read a previous post from James maybe last week Saylors waiting for an opportune time can't remember if the post set near the rate cuts

Theresa

I'm in the same boat - was just wondering if it might be better to sell out of some long term stocks now that have done well to have some dry powder to increase Tesla or MSTR if they go lower? Also wondering if I should hedge CLSK at the open?

BTCMiike

I have been holding some dry powder for what i think could be one more MM push to steal some cheap shares? The worse that could happen is my bag stays up and i have some xtra $$ to buy with. GL2ALL
