This is after it has already happened in Norway, Iceland, Sweden and Denmark.

Oh, wait a minute! I was under the impression that BEVs just couldn't handle cold climates at all. Guess I was wrong! [SARCASM]

Well yeah. When it's that cheap n all. But how do they produce the electricity needed to fuel the cars? Do they use fossil fuels or wind turbines, or?

Wrama

Even if it's fossil fuels (least ideal) it would be better for the environment than an ICE car. That's because ICE cars use just over 20% of available energy in their fuel, whereas about 40 to 50% of energy in power plant fossil fuels gets used. As I understand it, in China roughly 26% of powerplants are nuclear and 56% are renuables. Not sure about the other 18%.

There is a video out showing the bigger picture of bev growth and charts like this. BEV Are on the rise but most charts a misleading .. I love James and he is awesome . BEV will continue to grow. But at a much slower pace. I think his charts don't show sentiment in American culture. James needs to soend more time in the midwest. Most of Europe has power shortage that is only going to get worse .. Europe has made a bunch of bad decisions in the last decade .. Pushing BEV will be another one. Electricity is already super expensive . Lets add electric cars..

How will FSD perform on the west coast in Canada. We tend to get a lot of heavy rain?

IamPOOCH

Atleast they resolved the SMOG in the cities in China

My car dealer/exporter friend moved from petrol car to electric. Final nail in my belief system. Wo hoo

Here in Iceland we have renewable energy sources as most our electricity comes from hydroelectric power plants. So it makes sense to use EV's here because of our low energy cost. However one of the big factors of the EV takeover of the car market here is because the government is fasing ICE cars out by 2030 by regulation and also EV's were exempted from 25% vat tax until last new year and they also put a tax for EV's which is 6 ISK(Icelandic krona) per every driven kilometer. Since then the % of EV's in the total vehicles imported has gone down. Most people are positive towards EV's here but EV range, weather conditions (snowy and icy roads, storms and blizzards) and problems in infrastructure also keep lots of away from them. My wife and I have 1 EV and 1 ICE car in the house and my view is that people shouldnt be forced to own a EV car because not everyone can afford to buy an expensive EV to meet their needs.

Like all tech changes, the price of EVs will drop yearly, just as the first computers were 10x the cost of the same type of computer just 5-10 years later. It won't take long, especially considering the secondary market.

Nordland nations have abundance of hydro power at very low prices. Also, virtually NONE unexpected floods or earthquakes. Huge boost in adoption. Moreover, China situation migjt be VERY different in prax vs. on paper! Look up on yt the piles of ebikes just outside of cities, and large fields with registered, yet unsold and unused EVs. There is a guy from US who lived there 10+ yrs, started fam and ultimately decided to leave Ch. as a no place to live and grow. Just saying. RL is usually different from lines on paper... Czechs have a saying: no stat is made to be true.

I understand China has been building many nuclear power plants in recent years, the EV growth makes sense if you have abundant population and energy

Yeah and in the East in a snowstorm. How are they going to perform in a blizzard? Or in Edmonton when it’s the coldest place in the world outside the Siberian weather station. ? …I still have doubts about it being used as an only primary vehicle.

If we are talking about the same channel where he shows the dark side of China. Fields of bicycles and EV's. Fake food growing, electric vehicles exploding etc. He's not American though.

Leverage ETF's; only vacation in them, never live in them.

Volvo said they produced their last diesel car in March, but surprisingly (not!) they have restarted producing them a couple of weeks ago. I like Elon and Tesla but I won't buy one. An EV can be tracked, remotely controled and who knows what other functions can be remotely activated to limit and control us. I see it as a further loss of freedom.

Pager

I have thought about it too. Tesla for sure has more control. But what car do you drive today? I went down this rabbit hole one time where most cars with some satellite connection can and is tracked already. now the question is do you trust Elon/Tesla to not track you or stick to a no tech car.
