Rule Du Jour: Rule #19: Be Confident - Use Your Brain - Don't Be Intimidated

Individual investors often have an edge over fund managers when it comes to making money from stocks, thanks to their ability to spot investment opportunities in their everyday lives that Wall Street normally misses. Tesla is a case in point. So is MSTR. Many others.

The best opportunities often hide in plain sight but you need to experience them. I nibbled on Tesla in 2017 and bought a ton of LEAPS in 2019 after I bought a Model X. Experiencing the car convinced me this was a special company. At the time, the price was about $17.50 split-adjusted. I added more at this level during the Covid Dip in March 2020.

Don’t underestimate your own intelligence. Confidence plays a crucial role in the game!

Peter Lynch compares companies to people. Helpful analogy such as a young company is like a teenager. A cyclical company is like a moody adult (Manufacturing for example)

What happened to ENPH is there… is it still a buy?

Love this advice! Not sure if the Peter Lynch quote is meant sarcastically or is a reference to the "we only use 10% of our brain" myth (other percentages often applied), but I felt the need just to quickly mention that very fact. It is indeed a myth. XD

This is another great one. I love each and everyone. Great nuggets of information and wisdom to store in our memory banks and reread from time to time.

Hello James, been watching you for years and just became a Patreon member. Don’t know what took me so long. No brainer really. NFA - just sold an investment property and now have a meting ice cube of about 250k cash sitting in my SMSF retirement account as a result, awaiting deployment. I can invest in pretty much anything within this account, equities, ETF’s, major cryptos and even options ( although I’m not too savvy yet on options). What would be a reasonable strategy (all in or DCA) and what would also be a reasonable allocation to aim for given we are half way through the crypto bull run. NFA. What would you do.
