This is quite profound and WALL ST HAS NO CLUE - as usual.

Tesla brought up an interesting challenge with Full Self-Driving (FSD): the main issue now isn’t about talent, data, or computing power, but rather identifying errors.

Why? The software has become so advanced that it takes a long time of testing to actually find a mistake.

This has big implications for Tesla's lead in FSD. Any competitor trying to catch up, even with better technology, will likely face the same problem.

If a competitor reaches Tesla's level of sophistication, they’ll hit the same testing bottleneck. At that point, progress slows down, and they can't overcome it just by throwing more computing power at the problem.

For example, if a competitor hits this bottleneck two years after Tesla, and computing advancements can’t solve it, it’ll be impossible to close that gap.

In other words, catching up would require not only matching Tesla's innovation speed but also being able to test new models faster than Tesla.

This suggests that Tesla might hold onto its advantage in vehicle autonomy much longer than expected, giving them a significant cost-per-mile edge. Tesla could build a massive autonomous ride-hailing network before anyone else, leaving competitors to fight for the leftovers.

It is amazing but when are they going to program in the flashing light school zone speed limits?????????? Blows right through every zone if I let it.

Same. But still, it’s getting so much better all the time.

What about Waymo and Cruise? They're way ahead of Tesla's self driving and actually provide Robotaxis in multiple cities? The only drawback is their equipment is custom and not ready for mass production yet.

This makes partnerships for Ai self driving almost a given….

How long until governments start to make driving illegal? Ie. Mandatory FSD? I've often thought if the car had been invented in today's environment no government would allow it due to safety concerns.

When I listened to this during the earnings call I felt like, this is already solved. It must be only health & safety and regulatory issues holding it back. When Elon commented that he did like to run some dept in the govt to review something to do with regulations around autonomous driving, I thought if that happens, Tesla is going straight to the biggest company in the world.

You don't need "feels" to find out if it's solved or not - just look.at all the FSD YT footage every version to find out it's not.

saw a report from Seeking Alpha “ Tesla adds more to its market cap in a day than the combined valuations of Ford and MG “ 🚀🚀🤪

you said it.. NOT READY, but the starting gun has fired and Tesla has left the blocks!

Read somewhere yesterday was: ‘Tesla’s stock best day in 11 years.‘

The news tried to suppress Tesla today with unconfirmed reports. I get better news for from my neighbors dog.

As a Tesla fanboy who would like to own one soon, I was quite alarmed to watch this comparison on YouTube, which contradicts the view held by Telsa owners that the assisted driving on Tesla's is far superior to competitors' systems. Admittedly, this test is on UK roads, but can anyone explain why Tesla performed so poorly compared to the VW. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9AA5LuAAJY&t=1530s
