Q re the MSTR Buy

A massive $42 billion purchase of Bitcoin is planned, all from MicroStrategy ($MSTR). Note it could take 3 years.

Let’s break down the math:

  • If no new Bitcoin buyers enter the market, this purchase alone could conservatively increase Bitcoin’s market cap by 75 times. This means Bitcoin’s price could reach at least $230,000.

  • If we assume a higher 120x increase (as estimated by Bank of America), Bitcoin could go up to $325,000 per coin.

These projections assume no new corporate buyers, no government investments, no retail buyers, no sovereign, no pension funds, no BlackRock and no extra demand from rising prices.

For MicroStrategy, this might mean doubling its Bitcoin holdings by 2025, potentially reaching 500,000 BTC. At a $325,000 price per Bitcoin, that’s about $162 billion in Bitcoin assets. I am trying to calc the impact on MSTR but being in early it will not matter, this could change my Calculus around profit taking this cycle.

If these numbers don’t excite you, it’s hard to say what will.

I am happy with my pair trade today

Awesome news, but shouldn't we still be buying spot BTC while there's still some left....

Peppi Longstockin

Owning btc & microstrategy in these times is just the most amazing rollercoaster 🎢 that only goes up 😹

The Tin Man

The thing that concerns me is the use of BTC as treasury by other companies (eg MSFT). Sure it will pump the price, but what if say Blackrock floats a shell company to buy BTC backed by their pockets and no debt. Why would anyone buy MSTR anymore?

mtclvr

This means Mstr will be left holding the bag? 😅

The whole borrow fiat-garbage, because I can, but most others can't and use it to corner a market, HOARDLE for life kinda rubs me the wrong way. Sure it pumps bags, but hoarding finite resources is so 10 BC...

voodoo

It's a free market, anyone can do it. You need the balls that's all. Let's see if Microsoft has some.

So are you advocating for selling btc for mstr james? In part or in whole , nfa?

Walk Dont Run

It seems like they are trying to make Bitcoin a store of value instead of currency. Hoarding Bitcoin and issuing ETF's (paper) defeats the purpose. There should be a push to make Bitcoin currency......immutable and limited......this would stabilize economies. Love to hear everyones thoughts.

Whiteness

IMO it's still both, but as a currency it's never going to be ideal for all cases. I think we're going to see currency like dollars or stablecoins still used in most cases for quite a while, whereas bitcoin is an alternate to the system, a value store, and open and easy to transact on, and a flight to safety for some. Its not fast enough nor does it have ideal attributes for extremely fast and finalized transactions to replace credit cards and other blockchains for high volume quick transactions, unless we're talking about BTC Layer 2's, and then we're kinda talking about Bitcoin itself still not being used a currency, just backing it or being involved as the value and security layer.
