The trade trade I got into too early. I just left it.

It ended up being larger than I wanted as I doubled down Thrice

I exited at $185 - taking my usual 25%

11 for 11 - I am about keeping a perfect record than getting greedy.

I made over a Cybertruck on the trade.

I secured a profitable exit. I closed my position at $185, prioritizing a gain over potential greed. MY PERP goes from 3.3x to straight SOL.

While I correctly avoided shorting the markets, I held onto my positions. Now, it's time to be prudent and lock in profits.

This is becoming less of an educational instructional forum and more of a "heres what i did today" bantor ...is there more information/details on "how to" , someplace in the group here ?...that is taught to beginner/intermediate folks?

AncientWisdom

Not sure what you mean? The education is spread all over the place... Maybe start taking notes?

Can someone help me understand the profit you receive on a leveraged Perp? I was in the 3.3x Sol trade on Jup.ag. In the lower box it showed I was in profit 25%, however after closing the trade I only received the actual 8.33% (spot %) that the trade was up. What is the point of being charged a funding fee if I dont receive the full 3.3x profit? I would have made the exact same if I would have just bought n sold Spot with less risk

So I played this a little different than you James; i kept 10% of my perp in play. I had gotten entry down to $170.21 and am at 3.51x leverage. On that remaining 10% I set a stop loss at $182 which is a 23% profit. My thinking is this way I locked in a majority of gains but still have leveraged chips on the table if it runs again, and the worst case scenario is making a smaller gain on the remainder of this trade, but I can always go back in if it reverts hard. My skepticism/uncertainty comes from the fact that you don't employ similar strategies with perps ie; layering out, setting SL in profit with a remainder of the position. I keep trying to find the hole in the thinking and not finding it aside of that this is obviously very momentum/trend dependant, but in such a bullish environment I'm just wondering if or why it isn't an optimal strategy in your NFA view? Would you be concerned about an extended consolidation period in which paying borrowing fees is a poor use of capital?

Got in at 163 since I never buy at tops, I exited 50% yesterday and set to my stop less to break even as per my strategy. However we did dip down to 158 and I admire your plan to mitigate losses at the bottom, This was a pro trade and well played on your part, Nice to see you in action 🦾🫡

I tried to figure out James’ portfolio valuation based on his last SOL perp trade, working back from hints he’s told us… 1. Last trade earned him 25% gains 2. Gains could pay for a CyberTruck (assume $100K) 3. He risks 1% of his total SOL bag 4. He entered three times, so 1%, then doubled down or 2%, then tripled down or 6%. 5. 3.3x perp trade 6. SOL bag is 12.4% of his portfolio With this information: X * 1.25 = $100k/3.3, X = $24k (perp entry) Y * 0.06 = $24k, Y = $404k SOL bag = ~ 2376 SOL, break even price of $170 at entry. Portfolio = $404k/0.124 = $3.26M This seems small so most likely I screwed up somewhere.

I am asking for a mass for you at my local church. You are contributing to the education of some children here. 🙏🧚‍♂️

Last time I use JUP for sure . Closed my trade with very similar entry and exit , you get around 40% of what the PnL they tell you due to borrow rates and fees which they don’t even break down or tell you about . You just magically loose money when you close the trade and actually check what’s been put back in your portfolio.

I just read over this on the Jup site (https://station.jup.ag/guides/perpetual-exchange/how-it-works). Price Impact Fee Large trades on the Jupiter Perpetuals exchange inherently incur no price impact since token prices are sourced from price oracles. While this is favourable for traders, it poses risks to the Jupiter Liquidity Pool (JLP): Large, profitable trades can negatively impact the liquidity pool's reserves. The platform becomes vulnerable to order manipulation. To address these risks, Jupiter Perpetuals implements a price impact fee. This fee is designed to simulate trading conditions in traditional exchanges, where larger orders typically experience more price slippage due to limited liquidity at each price level.

How was this telling you to sell James? I closed my position as well on 31% profit, but opened another one at $187 seeing this is not slowing down, and still holding this open. Not gonna close til new ATH
