A recent survey by Goldman Sachs highlights a concerning trend regarding retirement savings among Americans.

Retirement Savings Insufficiency:

The survey reveals that 38% of retirees and 39% of working Baby Boomers have accumulated less than $100,000 in retirement savings. Similarly, 50% of Generation X consumers have not surpassed the $100,000 savings mark.

Income Expectations vs. Reality:

Despite these savings challenges, 73% of currently working respondents anticipate maintaining over 50% of their working income during retirement, inclusive of Social Security benefits. However, only 60% of retirees report achieving this level of income replacement.

Retirement is NOW a Luxury:

The data suggests that a comfortable retirement is becoming increasingly unattainable for many, turning it into a luxury rather than a standard expectation.

My friends have told me I will never be able to retire. What they don't realize is that I have James on my side! I have been a regular listener since early 2021, and invested for the first time in my life because of the confidence I gained from IA. My bags are doing well, but not enough yet to stop my part-time job cleaning vacation rentals to supplement SS. I am a 71 yr. old widow. After listening to the interview with MopBots - I am motivated to up my game!!!

PLAN(B)ULL

Retired at 48 after reaching financial independence. Truly fortunate. For those young, get educated, invest early and take chances. You will be rewarded.

You only think you want to be retired. Sorry, just a hard fact of life. Just do this stuff b/c its fun and it gives you choices.

People that say you "dont want to be retired" are just institutionalized as they say in Shawshank Redemption. We as a society have been brainwashed to spend our lives working or rather spending our most limited asset of time for money. The rich don't make this trade they are allowed to choose how to spend their time instead of being a slave to the $$$

Unfortunately, most people (especially men) feel like they're only useful if they are doing a "job". Meanwhile my generation will collect a social security thats 1/2 of our parents and 1/4 of our grandparents adjusted for inflation. My son's generation will earn 1/2 of that....we are basically looking at their social security paying for their streaming subscriptions. Meanwhile my son is also severely autistic and will never be able to function as a working adult and the government will NOT help them. That is why I am here.

The real meaning of Retirement = stay idle, not doing anything, immobile, unable. But the other meaning is, stop working and doing things you like, traveling, fishing, play sports, able to do stuffs you love, etc. Which one are you?

Ironman

Having fun and doing what I want with no boss telling me what to do, except for Mrs. Ironman of course

Retirement is definitely luxury and might continue...if we won't see an updated Retirement Coctail James. 😉

No worries. They'll be saved by increased defense spending and tax cuts for ultra wealthy due to trickle down economics.
