Why you ask?

Bitcoin offers several advantages as collateral:

  • 24/7 Liquidity: Bitcoin can be easily marked to market and liquidated at any time, unlike traditional assets

  • Borderless Nature: Bitcoin transcends geographical limitations, enabling global lending and borrowing opportunities

  • Transparency: All Bitcoin transactions are recorded on a public blockchain, providing unprecedented transparency for lenders

Enhanced Risk Management

Financial institutions can leverage Bitcoin's properties to improve their risk assessment and management:

  • Real-time Monitoring: Banks can continuously track the value of Bitcoin collateral, allowing for immediate adjustments to loan-to-value ratios

  • Automated Liquidation: Smart contracts can be used to automatically liquidate collateral if its value falls below a certain threshold, reducing default risk

The irony of this is astounding! Several years back I got to 825 credit score. Found out it really doesn't do anything over a 720 and said screw it. I now have a 650 credit score without ever missing/late a payment, defaulting on anything, or any other kind of monetary failure. I just moved to BTC for my financial security, gave them the finger, and haven't looked back!

I've been sending bitcoin from my coinbase account to a coinbase wallet on a a ledger on base network it's converted to coinbase wrapped bitcoin (then when you send it back its converted back to bitcoin native) for zero fees and using it as collateral on AAVE to borrow USDC to buy more Tesla and Bitcoin.

Does anyone else have the same feeling the tax man and the banks are setting up a trap for people that hold BTC? I believe that once you come forward with your BTC to use it as colateral then you expose yourself about your wallet address and the size of your wallet. Once they know that then they will chase your moves then will tax you on your profits you will make on crypto or will force you to pay inheritance tax, etc

Is this post valid for B2B or C2B? B2B means business to bank and C2B means consumer to bank?

IRS can already track your wallets.. whatever Fiat on/off ramp you use to buy crypto connects you to your wallets

That is astonishing! Finally , more people are getting on board, and the combination of assets as collateral is so cool!

Hold The Line

That’s interesting Tommy - “using as collateral on AAVE to borrow USDC to buy more.” I would not want to personally bother you for details on that. Can you share a resource to learn more about that?

Banks finally understand the concept of automated liquidation of collateral in smart contracts, like what happens in trading. This makes total sense.
