I knew this would happen, but the rate at which internal combustion engine car companies are suffering is happening much faster thank I expected.

Stellantis, VW, GM, Ford all scaling back capacity and hurting on the pivot to EVs.

And now Nissan in hot water.

ICE already died in China, Norway and Iceland.

Yet on social media, especially Facebook, you find so many comments of Tesla and EV doomed to fail. And when I suggested Toyota in trouble, also laughed at. Most normies deluded about ICE

VW is going to get rescued by the german government. The state already owns 20% of the shares. Its too big to fail

As someone who needs an ice truck for work purposes and is also in the market for a new truck (unfortunately). Do you think deals are likely to come in the near future to move product, or the opposite because of how much they’re suffering and they’ll need to recoup as much as feasibly possible? I am trying to determine if holding out on making the new purchase would be beneficial or jumping in now. Zero % finance is coming back, but a reduced overall price would be killer.

Hopefully if F or GM are to go bankrupt, it happens while Trump is in office and maybe, just maybe the citizens won’t have to pay for a bailout.

Sorry but I’m not convinced that ICE vehicles are on the brink of extinction. I think the car companies are hurting because the economy is hurting and people aren’t buying. I’m very concerned about our economy in the short term. Though I’m confident Trump can pull our ass out of the fire. Don’t get me wrong. I’m all in on Tesla. But there are still negatives for EVs yet to be resolved including cost. And as more EVs hit the roads there will be less demand for gas making it cheaper. And Trump has plans for energy dominance meaning fossil fuel supplies should increase, ie decreased cost. If EVs are the thing why are all the big 3 et al cancelling EV plans which have led to huge losses. Obviously Elon has Tesla firing on all cylinders, pun intended EVs make sense in urban areas with short, light load trips with concerns of smog pollution. But the ICE should be around another couple decades. As in all things and equilibrium will be reached. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Peace

Their CVT transmissions were told the same thing. They only live 12 - 14 months.

If I felt like wasting my time and money I’d short all of them for fun.

I work in the ICE industry .. The untold story. All manufacturers are launching new engines.. These new engines are going to be junk. The government is mandating requirements that the companies can't meet.. These engines will be expensive to work on and will need major repairs at 100k miles. These liberal green energy people are killing the middle class with these requirements. The people who buy a car with 100k miles on them are middle or low income . They don't have $3000 dollars to fix these junk engines. The rich guy in DC who trades ever couple years doesn't understand the cost of ownership of these vehicles .. Having a hybrid worked on is going to be insanely expensive .. The middle class will pay for all of that. It is a hidden tax on the poor. Tjey are also killing the diesel industry .. The diesel cannot meet these ridiculous emissions .. My neighbor just spent $6000 to replace the exhaust on his diesel truck. He has to pass this cost to his customers. The same people claiming to care about the middle class and poor. Are the ones driving the price of goods up.. These rich DC crusaders are not effected by these things. They can absorb the cost. Middle class is getting killed , and the poor are screwed .. They are completely out of touch with reality ..

I say the same for farming and people living on coastal state that get hit by a hurricane every other year. corn is $4/ bushel. Farmers are going to need bailed out. Agriculture is tje mot subsidized industry..

James occasionally talks about Europe being crucified by over-regulation, the following is an example. Here in the UK Vauxhall (a Stellantis subsidiary) have just announced they are closing a van manufacturing plant. The company is blaming it on the inability to live with the UK government's ZEV (zero emission vehicle) mandate. As per The Guardian newspaper, 'Under the mandate, electric cars must make up 22% of sales of new vehicles this year, rising to 28% in 2025 – albeit with important loopholes that can reduce the target considerably. If they miss their targets, carmakers face fines of up to £15,000 for each vehicle. The goal is 80% battery electric cars by 2030, before a complete ban on new petrol and diesel engines in 2035'. They are struggling to make EVs competitively and are being forced out of ICE production. Sadly it will mean a lot of job losses.
