Now it is 3-93. The next time it will be 10-86. Then 23-74. You get the drift. The flogging will continue until we the people realize that the politicians are the real problems. The politicians are taking care of themselves, while the masses care more about the donkey and the elephant. News flash... they are ALL corrupt and until people realize this they will be no accountability.

Very sad. Societies turn their backs on their elders who built it (pensions), and on their children who will inherit it (debt(s)).

So does this mean that all these people with pensions could face a renegotiation of their benefits?

I believe they can change whatever they want. When I left my company, 2011, I had a beneficiary on account. Several yrs ago, they changed, if I am unwed, no one gets the money, even if I had not withdrawn from it. Lose it all.

The seed has been planted, all governments today are morally and financially bankrupt, and corrupt, so its not if, but when this becomes reality. No way to opt out of the pyramid scheme, no way out. Doing a budget and balancing your accounts should be mandatory curriculum in school starting in grade 5 until you finish high school, continuing to investing in college and university. Then the pension pyramid scheme could be cancelled. Unfortunately, many mistakenly assume they can live off this small amount of money. NO one voted into any position in government is reliant on any pension scheme from the government, so you can bet that they don't give a rats @ss about it!

It should be 75 based on life expectancy. When SS was enacted, life expectancy (average) was 65!

There should be an opt out option once you start working. But the problem is the entire system is already broke. So you have millions of people who rightfully feel entitled to their payout. But its going to be off the backs of young peoples labor via taxes. When it eventually hits a boiling point. I imagine it will become the newest addition to the culture war. Politicians will find a way as they always do, to make it a neighbor vs neighbor issue. Mark my words.
