The journey from Polkadot 1.0 to 2.0 is marked by milestones in decentralization, such as the 1000th governance proposal in July 2024 and the approval of Referendum #747, which defined the technical advancements of Polkadot 2.0. Enhanced by initiatives like OpenGov and onchain treasury, Polkadot fosters an inclusive environment for users and developers alike [we are DEI]. Alongside these upgrades, a revamped branding initiative ensures user-friendliness through an intuitive website, clearer messaging, and a refreshed visual identity. These efforts reflect Polkadot’s commitment to lowering barriers to entry and aligning its growth with the aspirations of its community.

My Take

Sometimes when a brand tries a rebranding effort it is out of desperation and often yields nothing. We saw this with many brands - most recently MATIC from Polygon to POL.

Nevertheless - the chain is still the same across all the key metrics - ie nobody uses it.

Polkadot 1.0 = DOT, Polkadot 2.0 = DOT DOT aka . . BARELY NOTICEABLE IN CRYPTO VERSE.

Merit Cirle to Beam is a rebrand did well, but I do not expect anything special from Pol or Dot

Sorry, I don’t own DOT but the comparisons are not accurate. Solana is an L1 with all happening on the L1, DOT or chains like Cosmos are not. The transactions are mostly on local chains built on top of them. These local chains use local tokens for gas that’s why the main Chain DOT or Cosmos have a hard time pumping. Solana doesn’t do 710,000 tps and never has. Just opium. The real tps of Solana is around 1500 max. Fire dancer hype has dissipated. Most of these altcoins including Solana have no long term staying power. Don’t get fooled by all the memecoin mania. Blockchains are mostly useless to the masses at this point. Killer use cases are Store of value (Bitcoin) and stablecoins for remittances, e-commerce and local banking for individuals around the world with no access to banks. All others are just companies with CEOs masquerading to be decentralised and hosted on google cloud. It’s all just swapping of tokens, but we like the number go up. So we get in to make money, knowing fully well that they have no long term staying power.

When I started in Crypto, DOT so sounded so promising with chains and parachain auctions. I even participated in Kusama testchain. Made good money from MoonRiver Airdrop due to staking. Sold it all and eventually my DOT. Taught me valuable lesson that the tech alone won't do it if folks aren't using.

DOT seems like the chain with the most devs for the least amount of usage.

Didn’t know where to ask this, but has anyone experienced the following on their Phantom wallet: Receiving a ton of coins one day all minuscule amounts only to wake up to all of them no longer there? Just disappeared…should I create a new account and avoid a possible hack?

Yep polkadot paid banter from retail robbing to keep plugging their project after it had been rugged probably by them and insiders, now they want more cash to do the same again and paying shillers to promote it
