Tesla Energy vs Cars (Patreon)
Content
Tesla announced their production and delivery numbers today. They didn't reach 500,000 deliveries, missing by 4,430 vehicles.
If each Tesla car makes $5,000 in profit, then they made about $22 million less than expected. That's not optimal.
However, Tesla also had a record in energy with 11.4 gigawatt-hours (GWh) deployed in the last quarter. This was 5.2 GWh more than the average of the last four quarters.
If each GWh brings in $105 million in profit, then the extra 5.2 GWh added about $546 million in profit compared to recent quarters.
Wall Street seems to think that losing $21 million from cars is much worse than gaining $546 million from energy. But, the profit from energy is 26 times bigger than the loss from cars.
So, Wall Street continues to be dumb. Nothing has changed since yesterday. If anything things have gotten a lot better.
