The European Central Bank (ECB) has decided to lower the interest rate it pays on money that banks deposit with it to 2.75%. This rate is now lower than the inflation rate in Germany, which means the real value of the money people save in euros is going down.
Here's why this matters:
Inflation is when prices go up over time, which means your money can buy less stuff.
Interest Rate is what you earn for keeping your money in the bank. When this rate is lower than inflation, the money you save loses value because it's not growing fast enough to keep up with rising prices. You are also taxed on interest earned. Essentially, savers are losing purchasing power because their money isn't earning enough to combat inflation.
YOU ALL NEED TO BE IN HARD ASSETS - DISRUPTION Preferably NOT FIAT!
