The CPI, which measures inflation, went up more than expected in January 2025. It increased by 0.5% from last month and 3.0% from last year, which was higher than what experts thought. Because of this high inflation, the Federal Reserve (the Fed) is not likely to lower interest rates soon. They've been trying to control inflation by making borrowing money more expensive, but it's not working as well as hoped. The Fed might keep rates high or even raise them to slow down spending and cool down inflation, which is still above their target of 2%.
