Tariff Fears Continue to Rattle Markets (Patreon)
Content
Tariffs on Canada and Mexico would hurt the U.S. economy and destroy the US Car Industry bar Tesla - not a car company. They’d make gas and groceries more expensive, mess up industries like car-making, and cause those countries to hit back at U.S. exports.
Canada and Mexico would suffer even more because trade with the U.S. is a bigger part of their economies than the other way around. Trump said the tariffs were about stopping drugs and immigration, but he kept talking about fixing America’s trade balance, which made that excuse sound weak.
Fresh economic data indicated a deterioration in consumer sentiment and investors braced for the potential impact of tighter U.S. trade curbs on Beijing.
