I fear a big player like Coinbase could wait to the last minute and torpedo this. If this is the case mathematically it is 50/50 now.

THE THREAT?

Once Firedancer launches, a Solana (SOL) ETF lands, and SIMD-0228 gets the green light—watch out, because all other L1s incl ETH could be in serious trouble. The triple combo could supercharge SOL’s performance and adoption, capitalizing on Firedancer’s speed boost, ETF-driven capital inflows, and SIMD-0228’s upgrades. ETH’s dominance might crumble further from 9% if SOL pulls this off, though it hinges on flawless execution and market timing.

Big ifs, but the potential’s explosive.

On the point of reduced validators (profitable only) , therefore increased centralisation, sure in relative terms, however , voting is still across a broad group of strong players who can invest in their platforms. Something that's duely important was the platform to be used for for Govt and Corporate use cases. What is our bigger picture here over staking rewards? It still kicks ETHs ass

Hiyoo

Coinbase has been staking their users' SOL without the users' knowledge. That's why they got caught with days long wait periods for users to transfer SOL during the TRUMP mania
