23andMe Went Under - DELETE YOUR DNA DATA (Patreon)
Content
As of March 24, 2025, 23andMe has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.
Genetic data is uniquely personal—it can reveal your ancestry, health predispositions, and even family connections you might not be aware of. If this data is mishandled, hacked, or sold, it could be exploited.
I never did it despite being handed prob 5 test kits over the years - being a paranoid fella - there are plausible risks tied to forensic misuse. Not just that, your DNA could expose you to discrimination (e.g., by insurers denying coverage based on genetic predispositions) or reveal sensitive family secrets.
