China has imposed a 34% tariff on all U.S. goods starting April 10, 2025, in retaliation to U.S. tariffs of the same rate on Chinese imports.

In 2024, China imported approximately $143.5 billion worth of goods from the U.S., according to U.S. trade data. This is significantly less than the $438.9 billion in goods the U.S. imported from China that year, Needless to say a huge trade imbalance that gives the U.S. more leverage in this tariff exchange.
