Historically, sharp drops in oil prices have sometimes coincided with recessions, often reflecting a collapse in demand—like during the 2008 financial crisis when oil plummeted from $147 to under $40 a barrel as global activity tanked.

This one is a sudden decline which means markets expect weaker economic growth, less industrial output, and reduced consumer spending, all of which align with recessionary conditions.

Gas prices in our community are rising. Is that normal if oil prices crash.

Isn't the Breakeven oil price about $70? This should be interesting supply vs demand macro or are they choking supply on purpose 🤔 MM x MM = Market Manipulation x Market Makers (Cartels)

Breakeven for whom? Every country/region have vastly different breakeven points. Russia and Saudi produce very cheaply and can take lower prices and still make a profit. US, Canada and some other regions will indeed need to start turning off production sooner.

The crash only happened yesterday. It will take a few weeks until translating into lower prices at the pump.
