I LOVE THIS CHART.

Explaining the chart real quick, imagine you’re currently 55 years old, and you want to retire in 10 years, which would be 2035. You want to know how much BTC you need for:

  • $1M per year in retirement. NOTE THIS IS A CRAP LOAD OF MONEY but it is from the chart

  • We can do this for $100,000 per year (which is 10% of $1M).

For $1M per Year

  • From the chart, locate the line for Age 55.

  • Follow it to the year 2035 on the x-axis.

  • The table at the bottom gives the exact value: for Age 55 in 2035, you need 21.37 BTC today to generate $1M per year.

For $100,000 Per Year

Since $100,000 is 10% of $1M, you can directly scale the Bitcoin needed:

  • If 21.37 BTC gives you $1M per year, then for $100,000 per year, you need 10% of that amount ie just = 2.137 Bitcoin

  • So, you need 2.137 BTC to generate $100,000 per year in 2035.

I will be working this into my retire on models and see what shakes out.

James: Does the chart yield a perpetual retirement or just 15 or so years?
