AI Speeds Everything Up and Increases Competition

AI makes it faster and easier for anyone to build apps or businesses. Tools like coding assistants and no-code platforms mean one person can build in days what used to take a whole team months. This also means others can copy your ideas just as fast. That’s what happened to the app developer who left Apple—he worked for months on his dream app, only to see clones appear in no time.

You’re Not Competing with One App—You’re Competing with 100

AI can break down what your app does and rebuild it fast. It’s not just one or two competitors anymore—it’s dozens or even hundreds. Features that used to make you stand out can now be copied or improved by AI in minutes.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT Matters More Than Ever

With AI, others can test, tweak, and improve their products constantly. If you're not doing the same, you're falling behind. The app developer didn’t expect rivals so soon—but that’s the new normal.

AI DEMOCRATIZES ALL

Before AI, being first or having a great idea could give you a big lead. Now, those advantages don’t last. The only way to stay ahead is to focus on things AI can’t copy—like building for a very specific audience, using your own data, or creating a strong brand.

BUILD STUFF THAT CANNOT BE CLONED

Seeing your ideas copied hurts. But in the AI era, it’s going to happen all the time. The key is to build things AI can’t steal: trust, community, deep analytical modeling, personality, and speed. The developer was thinking like it was still 2020—not 2025. In today’s world, success comes from staying fast, staying unique, and connecting deeply with your users.

CONCLUSION

AI is a double-edged sword: it helps you build faster but makes it easier for others to copy you. To win, accept the reality of endless competitors, move quickly, and build on what makes you human. Your concerns since 2022 are valid—only speed and adaptability can protect you now.

One thing that does really concern me about AI. Is it stifling human innovation. I'm an engineer as well and i see how AI has worked its way into my work. Its a great tool. But sometimes i don't even have to think using it, its doing that for me. Which does bother me sometimes. I just wonder if there will be any long term repercussions from raising a child with the world dominated by AI. Will they feel like this guy above where everything we considered "creative" is now just common?

"deep analytical modeling" Generally agree with your premise James, but this is just dead wrong. LLMs for Data Science removed the need for many/most average data scientists, and they will be better than 99% within a couple years.
