I was on a spaces with James Wynne exactly 9 days ago for two hours, and we had a fascinating conversation, but it was very clear to me that this guy was out of his league when it comes to perp trading.

While he's been hailed as an overnight hero, my trade tracking shows he's down roughly $100 million. Below is the breakdown of his trades and critical lessons for perp trading. Always exercise extreme caution in perpetual futures trading and keep your trades private. Market makers will hunt you—I've warned about this countless times. Follow these strict rules to protect yourself:

  • Never exceed 3.3x leverage: High leverage amplifies risk and makes you a prime target for liquidation hunters.

  • Set super-low liquidation levels: Keep your liquidation price far from market price to avoid being swept by sudden price wicks. Use LILO ATR etc to ID these levels.

  • Limit position size to 1% of your bag: Large positions attract market makers who can manipulate price to trigger your stops.

  • Avoid public trade disclosures: Sharing your entries, exits, or position sizes on social platforms like X invites predatory trading against you.

  • Use staggered stop-losses: Place multiple smaller stops to minimize slippage and reduce visibility of your risk points.

Stay private, stay disciplined, and respect the market's ability to hunt overexposed traders.

Just don't follow Dave Ramsey, he's the anti-christ to James' philosophies about risk and debt/leverage

What about guys like Chris from Dumb Money? Publicly talking about his upcoming Tesla trade. It will be the biggest trade of his life, telegraphing it for people to see. How is that a good idea?
