The Rule of Essential Asymmetry

This rule #70 captures the essence of how to win in markets.... and I call it the easy path. Sometimes the hard path as I will note below but key as always to take into account Rule #24, Rule #17, Rule #13, and most importantly Rule #59 imagine it! This rule is a culmination of many previous rules.

Breakdown

• “Buy what the world needs” → Focus on fundamental, inescapable demand: eg storage, mobile, WebCommerce, Streaming, Internet Money, Energy Storage, EVs, Robots, Inference, etc. Look for products, services, or protocols that solve the inevitable problems that are forthcoming. Again, spend a lot of time thinking about what is coming next - think at leat 5 years out, make sure you are right and position yourself for that. I spend prob 20-30% of my time thinking about the future.

• “Before the world knows” → This is your asymmetric edge. Find it early—before it's obvious, before Wall Street builds a model (eg Tesla), before it's priced in. It demands contrarian vision, courage, and research. I know I’m not popular on the internet. That’s the price of conviction. I go in early and hard—because I see what most don’t yet. They mock it now. Later, they’ll call it insight. This is the nature of asymmetry, and I’m here for it.
  

• “And riding the wave when it can't live without it” → The stickiness or necessity must be structural: irreplaceable, addictive, indispensable. Eg Search, AI, Energy Storage, Robotics, EVs, Layer 1 Crypto, Bitcoin, inference, compute, transformers, energy etc…that creates enduring demand, pricing power, and exponential upside.
