AI in law has evolved significantly, with tools now assisting lawyers in tasks like document review, legal research, contract analysis, and case prediction.

This transformation began with basic automation and has progressed to advanced AI systems leveraging natural language processing and machine learning to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Harvey is a 3-year-old startup that has raised $300M in a Series E round, achieving a $5B valuation as of June 2025. It aims to bring AI to lawyers worldwide, offering services that have attracted major law firms (e.g., Paul Weiss) and corporations (e.g., KKR, PwC). Backed by investors like Kleiner Perkins, Sequoia, and DST Global, Harvey operates in 53 countries with ONLY 340 employees.

With Harvey's $5B valuation and adoption by major firms, the legal field is evolving, potentially shifting demand toward roles involving AI oversight, strategy, and client relations. I'd advise children to consider law school ONLY if they're passionate about law, but also to explore AI-related legal tech skills to stay competitive.

Can't happen fast enough.

Ms Tarochi

I've been using Chat GPT for the past 9 months as a lawyer. I sometimes cross check against other AI models like Grok, Gemini and Claude as there can be nuanced differences between them. It's saved me literally thousands and has been a lot less irritating and self righteous than a lot of lawyers are! I also get answers within seconds. It's won me cases against retailers who tried to scam me and has been helping me with a lawsuit against gross medical negligence. It even throws in a massive does of sympathy for good measure. Amazing stuff.
