Coming from a CEO losing $5B a year on EVs — and Waymo is currently 8-9x more expensive than Tesla Robotaxi - NGMI!

Ford in real terms has plummeted 83% over the past 25 years.

Its value is so low that shorting it seems pointless.

I believe that within the next 3 to 5 years, this company will cease car production and collapse! GM too! Their Truck business should be their focus.

No way. They are too in bed with the government. If a government wants a company to survive, it will.

What is the solution to fog and heavy rain for camera only?

Heinz-Ruediger

I feel it’s not a conspiracy but rather a valid point to support Lidar use. If the camera provides crap input, no AI in the world can compensate for this.

TWINGO has a better chance to survive…

Same as humans? Slow down, or even stop driving until safe visibility is restored?

Forever restructure with government backstop, well for a while at least

Automakers are resilient. They will adapt, even at the last possible moment, and they will be bolstered by Govt support. So it will be a gradual process…IMO. The Economy can’t afford a mass loss of jobs like that.

Yes JB. Not forever, but awhile tho. I agree with IA that they will die, but it will be longer than 3-5 years. Maybe 10?

Brionix

The F150 is keeping them in business. People love their trucks.

Politically, Farley could never admit that a "perceived" auto competitor had the best tech. I want to give this guy the benefit of the doubt that he's not that foolish. Anyone joining automotive as a CEO in the last 10-15 years hopped on a slowing sinking ship. They are strapped, strategically, from doing anything because of their capital costs and unionization of labor. If there's any chance to pivot, it would have to be via BK.

I was thinking "I should short FORD"...glad you noted it's really already plummeted. Better horses to chase. Thx

We don't drive with Lidar, only with vision (some would say hearing, also, but with music blaring, or iPods in your ears with noise cancelling, are we really dependent on hearing?). Artificial vision is at the point that it exceeds human vision. Accelerometers (such as in our phones) can cheaply and easily mimick "seat of the pants" inputs. So, I believe it's pretty solidly evident that best way to mimick human driving is with vision (cameras), and perhaps some accelerometers (doesn't seem they're needed tho) ,not Lidar. Lidar would be a nice adjunct, perhaps, if it didn't cost so much for the hardware. Cameras? Cheap.

Seems to me he's making a completely politically charged statement.
