US government surplus is piling up fast! What will Trump do with the money?

Chris L.

This post is not only neocolonial, but neoimperialistic.

Asia bending the knees for Trump's tarrifs, while middle class america continues to bend at the waist.

Do America know how to create wealth without stealing the orher countries' stuff?

Hopefully, because Australia is not on the list, these countries accept the best they can with US, ahead of deadline, perhaps AU by deadline... As everyone needs some category of US goods.l, albeit while they enhance / establish zero tariff trade with Australia and the neighbours within this group. Wishful thinking on my part? I'm not happy with US who is trying to push AU as proxy into war with China... We should give them the finger 🤘 with this best alternative to US tariffs...

To anyone whinging about deficits… if your country has the global reserve currency, then expect to have trade deficits. Ask Grok to explain it to you.

Costs will be absorbed but the US consumer. It’s the American lower and middle class that will feel it in their wallets

For those who think higher tariffs are a good idea, I say be careful what you wish for. Apart from paying higher prices for imported goods, your more likely to see a reduced choice of goods as manufacturers chose to export their goods to other nations where the opportunities are better. Case in point: There's a wealth of choice of affordable EV cars coming out of China that the rest of the world has access to but US citizens do not.

Agree with you on the first prt on price increase. Second part on „goods flow to other nations“ - not really. There is overcapacity and limited demand for goods and services, if US excluded.

"Bending the knee" such a loaded term

Karian

It took me a while to think about it, but I think if it’s anyone who will be “bending the knee”, it will be the command economies.
