When left unchecked, Mark has proven himself incapable of running a company of that size. I’m certain he would’ve found a way to divert those AI funds into “his” Metaverse. In my opinion, Mark single-handedly killed the Metaverse. Such a tool. I praise the person who agreed to retain the original Quest team post acquisition. They finally release a quality product at an affordable price point by partnering with Ray-Ban (retails for approx $279+ here in the US). And, what does Zuck do next? He launches the long awaited Rayban 2.0 glasses , which is expected to hit stores in the fall and retail between $1000 and $1200 per pair!!! 😱 This is exactly the same mistake he made two years ago when Meta upgraded the Quest 2 for six times the price!! But here’s the problem… The new Meta/Ray-Ban glasses will not include AR. All you get is a small one-lens view box that provides a visual representation of what you can currently view through the iOS app. A full AR experience (like Apple’s Goggles in a compact Ray-Ban frame) would certainly justify a 4-5x increase in price. A small one-sided view box will undoubtedly result in another Q4 loss for the Quest division. How can he not foresee this coming?! You can literally buy the $279 glasses + the latest Apple Watch for less than the cost of Zuck’s latest non upgraded upgrade! 🤡
