Binance hold no SOL

But they use customer funds to send to Wintermute so they can Nuke the price down to liquidate longs.

Many reasons to not KEEP YOUR CRYPTO ON AN EXCHANGE, but this is another good one.

I would be more frustrating if SOL alone dropped but everything do so… binance did it all?

Fab

Yes, now is clear. Binance is playing games on us

Aron

Most likely the Solana is owned by a market maker or hedge fund that operates on Binance. No proof it’s not customer funds or wintermute’s own funds

The “evil market maker” narrative is getting real tired. Every time the price dips, it’s the same cope: “They’re nuking the market!” “Market makers need to go to jail!” “Binance is manipulating everything!” No. They’re not. Market makers aren’t doing anything illegal. They’re literally doing what they’re supposed to do providing liquidity so you can buy and sell without waiting hours or watching spreads blow out 10% It’s not market makers pushing prices down, it’s leverage. People go long with 10x, 20x, 50x leverage… then price dips a bit, they get liquidated. That liquidation is a forced market sell, which pushes the price down further, triggering more liquidations rinse and repeat. That’s not manipulation that’s a cascade. It’s math, not malice. And funny how nobody complains when price rips up because shorts get liquidated. When that happens? Silence. No one yells, “evil market makers are pushing price UP!” Why is it only manipulation when your longs get wrecked? It’s the same mechanism in reverse. Come on. Now let’s talk about this Binance transfer to Wintermute: Binance moves funds to market makers like Wintermute all the time. That’s their job to provide liquidity across exchanges. It could be For spread capture For OTC deals For internal balancing For liquidity provisioning in volatile conditions This isn’t new or shady. And proof-of-reserves snapshots are point-in-time, not real-time. Binance could’ve held the SOL before, or moved it after. Their wallet structure is complex, hot wallets, margin, futures, internal flow, not everything shows up where you think it should. “But they sent it to nuke the price and liquidate longs!” Here’s where the theory collapses: There’s zero evidence of intent to manipulate Wintermute doesn’t care about your trades they care about volume, spreads, and volatility If they tank price to wipe out longs, they’re left holding the downside risk. That’s not how you stay in business And really if Binance and Wintermute were conspiring to wreck the market, why do it on-chain, publicly traceable? Come on. That’s not a smoking gun it’s a basic transfer that happens all the time. Its only when the transfer lines up with some narrative that people scream manipulation. Also: SOL isn’t the only thing falling. Is Binance nuking BTC, ETH, LINK, ADA, DOT too? Who’s the villain on those? Coinbase? Kraken? Santa Claus? The entire market is down. Why? Because the market is repricing risk, flushing leverage, and reacting to macro. This is how markets work. It’s brutal but it’s not criminal. Now let’s talk about stop hunts & liquidity pockets Yes market makers can and do move price into liquidity pockets (aka stop loss zones). Why? Because that’s where liquidity lives. And market makers need liquidity to fill large orders without major slippage. Stop losses = guaranteed market orders. So pushing price into that zone gives them: Easy fills Better entries Cleaner inventory management It’s not illegal. It’s not malicious. It’s just strategy. Everyone from whales to bots to hedge funds hunts stops. It’s part of the game, in every market, crypto, equities, forex etc, and if your stop is in the most obvious place, that’s on you. If you're still blaming market makers instead of understanding market structure, leverage cascades, and liquidity mechanics, you're not trading you’re gambling and crying about it after. It’s not a conspiracy. It’s the market. Learn the rules or keep getting played. Market makers are one of the most misunderstood parts of the crypto space. People scream “manipulation” every time price moves against them. But in reality, market makers are the ones keeping this whole system functional. They don’t nuke prices. They don’t target you. They help you buy and sell 24/7 with tight spreads and instant execution even in low-liquidity conditions, or coins with low volume. In TradFi, everyone understands this. In crypto, too many are overleveraged, emotional, and uneducated so they blame whoever’s easiest to point at. Market makers aren’t evil. They’re essential. Stop crying. Start learning. And James knows all this. He does. He’s been in the space for decades. You know how this works, James don’t pretend you don’t. There's no grand conspiracy!! Id love to hear what people think about this, this is how markets work and I've been studying market makers and how markets actually work for a long time so I'd be interested in continuing this conversation if anyone wants to take the other side of it.

Magicmurph

Yeah on closer look at the wallet it has multiple transfers to multiple other bianance wallets that also hold high amounts of sol. They still have a lot. Again Marty just shooting from the hip. But he has a Cap gun.

Untrue. Market makers are making the market that's all. See my other comments for a long explanation or let me know if you want it and I'll copy it here if you cant find it.

Amor

Removed everything from Binance - fed up! -.-

Morgan Motorist

It would be great if the SEC took action and investigated what seems to be a clear case of market manipulation.

STACKSATS21

Wintermute CEO did a pod with Kevin @ when shift happens. Goes into the detail about this exact type of accusation and claims it wouldn’t align with their long term vision. So I’m on the fence with this one

Crypto-Cephalon

I saw that as well. It also aligns with what I learned from Grok about how these market makers work. It would seem Binance is not sending money to WinterMute, WM is transferring it themselves for one account to another (not necessarily selling). Would be interested in a deeper (and unbiased) view into this.
