The BAD NEWS

CPI ticking up... second highest month over month increase. But TradFi will tell you it is Tariffs... it is not.

The GOOD NEWS

Cray thing out the CPI print is that literally everything that’s driving inflation is NOT subject to tariffs: Shelter (main culprit!), medical services, electricity, restaurant meals, airfares, used cars.

Shelter lack of housing + unaffordability is driving rents THRU THE ROOF

Meanwhile clothing, cars are deflating fast!

All roads lead to Rate cut

Morningstar5051

Aren’t shelter costs going up because materials to build have been impacted by tariffs? How are you saying it doesn’t?

There is tremendous demand of buyers for homes they just cant afford them. Administration has removed somewhere in the 3 to 400k illegals. They guess with zero data perhaps a million self deported but ive seen no reduction in volume of illegals in the northeast US. I believe this assumption is politically driven by media blaming weak housing demand on the admin. It is farcical. Buyers are stretched to their limit. Millenials sttraddled with debt cannot afford to buy boomers homes. Small businesses are being crushed by high intreset on high principal. Rates should have been cut all year

MJ

I think ppl fail to comprehend the sheer volume of ppl that came in for 4 yrs. Alot harder to remove then admin would make it seem. We saw 250 to 400k a month thru 22thru 24. Thats a boston every 2 months. A philadelphia every 3 months. Home prices are weakening for same reason car prices are

Remember there are degrees of separation from the thing being looked at and the input costs.. such as housing might increase in price because of a steel or concrete tarrif which pushes up build prices which affect secondary markets...

Inflationary impact of tariffs hasn't hit yet. The idiots on fox say that other countries are paying the tariffs, what a bunch of goofs. Deflationary trend is from a soft economy... you can't believe anyone or any reports anymore, it's all twisted and fixed.

Richard Levesque

There is a 10% tariff on electricity from Canada and a10% tariff on oil from canada used to produce electricity .. what do you mean no tariff on electricty

Midnight Token

Prices are rising from tariffs guaranteed. Not sure by how much but do you really think importers are eating the full tariff?

MJ

Definitely dont want to use canadian electricity if we can help it

Trump after replacing the statistician to someone he likes: “reality can be whatever I want”
