Great chart on average annual inflation rates across 152 countries since the 1971 collapse of the Bretton Woods system - BUCKLE IN!

  • No country has managed an average inflation rate below 2%

  • Switzerland coming nearest at 2.2%.

  • Meanwhile, 107 countries have posted averages exceeding 5%

  • 55 have surpassed 10%.

Impact of 5% Annual Currency Debasement Since 1971
If a $100 bill had been exposed to a consistent 5% annual loss in purchasing power from 1971 to today (54 years):

  • 1971 Value: $100

  • Today’s Purchasing Power: ≈ $6.27

That means 93.7% of its original value has been destroyed. Put another way, what $100 bought in 1971 would require about $1,594 today to match the same purchasing power.

US (capitalism), Canada (socialism), China (communism), and France (well, Europe) are all at about the same rate. To what do we attribute that?…. What’s the commonality?….. Legit question, not rhetorical.

Yikes! I think that's why they are making most shopping bags smaller now? It takes more than $50 to fill a bag here in Canada. Shrinkflation is almost as small as we can go...Prices will continue to soar😪

Too much govt = too much spending = too much debt = money printing = inflation

I remember when a full sized candy bar was five cents and you could buy 1 pc. of candy for penny in 1964. Back in the good old gold days of silver coins.

Yup i mean hence why a brand new Iphone still costs u 1,500 bucks now a days, even tho there was no tech remotely close. But simply put 100 dollars worth of groceries back then could get u a truck load of food. It is nutty

But if our wages went up the same way it doesnt rly matter, so is there a chart which says how our buying power declined in the same time?

Boring

Sending this chart to people I love. Unfortunately only a couple of my friends get it. I still feel a lot of resistance for Bitcoin ! Unfortunately I have lost the will to explain the obvious. 🙏 James for your kind energy and brilliant teaching skills.

Surely you also need to add money printing on top to come to the real debasement level c 12/13% pa?

Captain

That's why we Bitcoin. FIAT is dying at an accelerated rate. Whoever refuses to see that will have a shocking awakening in 5 years or so.

Captain

Sadly we can only advice and warn. We cannot force people to change their viewpoint.

Duncan Gray

Great perspective. This one is hard to get the head around just how bad it is.

NJAY

That’s insane debasement! 😮
