I went into TSLA again... same position ast last week for a net debit of $39. Rem the stock was at $340 this morning and dipped to $330 and that is where I got a fill. My breakeven on this trade is $339 by Dec 2027. It was at this level this morning.

I sold the $300 Puts and bought the $300 calls for a price net debit of $39. Expiration Dec 17, 2027.

Days to Expiration 850 days. It will be a VERY DIFFERENT WORLD in 850 days. I promise you that.

As I said each week I will stack between $300 and $330....

If you have cash, should you buy 'normally' or still is better to follow the put / calls strategy?

Johannes Dolch

Can you make a detailed video how you do this?

James you typically do even strikes on your synthetic longs. Why the discrepancy here, leap at $300 and put at $330. I get that you make more premium on the put, and typically you are right at the money on the LEAP. Why did you alter your strategy som much, why not do this strategy every time where you have different strikes.

Chewie

Don't lie James, I bet you still be stacking above 330. Forever (well a long time yet) buying the 'top' whenever big dips come haha

I think he looks at the Greeks, IV, liquidity etc before deciding on the strike. So either SL or RR

Is it FOMO in or indicator flashing buy signal @james

I've only just started learning about options recently... (so I'm not an expert) I heard James say this the other day (I wrote it down): "If I have 1,000 Tesla shares, I'll have 10 leap contracts" That's 100 shares bought for every options contract. That means he's only playing with 1% of his investments in options. Someone also said: when you look at the upside of an option and the max losses, also compare it to the upside of just buying shares...which means you're thinking the right way! (build actual shares, then paper trade options until you're good, then only put 1% in options) James also said "90% of options expire" (worthless / not exercised)

Can anyone advise what platform I can use in Australia for these types of trades

Hello james, i'm learning alot! thank you so much for sharing. may i know what do you intend to do with the calls? do you buy the shares at 300$ when it goes to 600 or 1000 , or do you just sell the calls? and do you sell the calls when the price reach a high? or do you close the position usually only near the end of the call expiry? thank you very much

This is a synthetic long. Most brokerage with options available will be able to provide this facility. InteractiveBroker is an international brokerage and has this facility. You need to have the right account for this like a margin account.

James, would it be possible to include the info on the prices that the Calls were bought and the Puts were sold in addition to the total net debit. Trying to recreate this at a later date as a paper trade. Thank you!!!

I thought the strike price for the put and call are typically the same with covered calls. The screen shot shows 300 call 330 put.
