The delinquency rate on US commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) for offices SPIKED to 11.7%, an ALL-TIME HIGH.

Office CMBS delinquencies are 1 percentage point above the post-Financial Crisis peak.

The commercial real estate CRISIS is still getting worse.

I wonder does Jerome Powell see any of this data? Worse than GFC and still nothing.

RE especially Office obviously is in major troubles, it will be interesting how Regional Banks handle this, but Multifamily rents are flat with the big boys sitting on Billions of dollars for acquisition and the numbers do not make sense, all of RE is troubled, rates must come down to near zero again. But with everything else happening RE does not look good regardless short term outlook 2-4 yrs.

Politicians lack the expertise to effectively manage the country and their local councils. In London, some boroughs report that residents are lagging behind on council tax payments by six months or more, while in others, up to 70% of homeowners are in significant debt due to unpaid council tax. Several borough councils have declared bankruptcy. The situation is deteriorating rapidly, resembling a collapsing house of cards.

I’m hearing the plan for US real estate is not to make homeownership accessible again, but “build to rent”. Meaning Wall Street will be buying up new builds specifically for renting to the middle class. They’re going to transform the real estate market. “You will own nothing and thank your benevolent overlords.” Klaus Schwab. Maybe.

Slow-motion train wreck. Commercial real estate dropping has been discussed for years. The work-from-home shift during COVID made many offices unsustainable due to low usage.

This is caused by low demand for commercial real estate, not the FED or high interest rates.
