Blockstream founder Adam Back—often speculated to be Satoshi Nakamoto—is pushing for new protocol rules to curb Ordinals and inscriptions. He argues that the so-called “JPEG industry” clogs Bitcoin with unnecessary data, driving congestion during peak times and diluting Bitcoin’s monetary mission.

Back suggests applying economic pressure on mining pools by encouraging wallets to divert fees away from those that accept inscriptions. However, he acknowledges this strategy risks fostering centralization.

The debate continues between Bitcoin Knots and Bitcoin Core.

If Adam is against it, so am I.

Adam Back recently changed his mind and is now against it. Glad he came around.

Simple answer is to run a node and run Knots and signal to Core you don’t want their change. Heaps of free resources online to show you how and you can support and strengthen Bitcoin by doing so as well as verify your own transactions and participate more fully in Bitcoin’s success.

If Bitcoin is owned by humanity, then humanity can decide to accept inscriptions. Inscriptions are not "spam".

I’ve heard knots is more technical. But I’m willing to explore this. If you know of any reliable resources drop them here of message them to me. Otherwise I can use what i always use when I want to learn something. Hit up my chatbot. 🤖

Just going to post this back in on this topic from the other topic, LoL "My Take: The problem with the change in the amount of data that can be included is two fold (80 Bytes to 100K Bytes). 1st - the size requirements could make it harder for people to run a node. Right now the bitcoin data folder is ~730GB. If people are able to force nodes to hold larger files this could balloon the amount of drive space required. Think block size wars and the reason BCH lost. 2nd - For anyone old enough in the space there was a time where spam was being put on the chain and used for illicit content. The reason it was determined not to be a problem was because of the amount of work to compile it. Think 15-20 transactions of data combined in a string then compiled into a file, viola your illicit content (too far obfuscated to be a problem for a node holder). Now, if someone wants to put illicit content on the chain with Core V30 they can fit the entire file. Your node is now holding an entire illicit file, legally could you be charged for that distribution? That is the 2nd major problem with this update. There was a 45 minute video I watched that broke this down perfectly but now I can't find it."

BTC’s biggest medium to long term issue is network security. In the next 5 to 10 years the mining rewards will go virtually to zero meaning that miners may not be incentivised to use the network. With institutions using BTC as a store of value there will be even less transactions on the BTC network leaving less and less miner incentives. Ordinals Runes etc provide other incentives for miners and are healthy for the Bitcoin network. Also pay attention to $NAT that is created by Bitcoin through the Digital Matter Theory (DMT) and is now being directed to miners as a potential second reward for miners. The second largest miner has recently moved and traded some of their $NAT. Bitcoin has many layers and this is one of its strengths

the satoshi spam is satire because of it's size of course. the point is that spam to some is not spam to others.

the porn thing is a make believe problem as porn is in all jpgs in every chain and the US government and most states have BTC as do many countries around the world. and yes, Lukedashjr is a weirdo who has a financial incentive with making knots and ocean mining
