Americans complain about housing affordability.... look around!

Feel awful for those in Sydney etc.

Looks like the bubble is bursting in CAN and NZ.

NZ managed to pull house prices back down to 2019 levels but are facing a double dip recession. Hopefully they get the pain out of the way now. I'm convinced the other western nations are holding off a necessary full blown recession for the sake of boomers wealth and corporate profits, sadly. Time for some real pain and some real action on cost of living (eg wind back negative gearing in Australia).

Inflation and corporations buying up the housing supply. What can be done? The money printers are not going to be turned off. I have yet to hear of a good solution for the other, but there must be something, for the sake of our kids & grandkids.

And what is meant by housing affordability? Purchase price, mortgage payment, does it include property tax or HOA? If & when I pay off my house, property tax will continue forever. In my case thousands of $ per month. Is it OK to feel blessed & pissed at the same time?

Another way to look at this chart is where people want to live now. Nobody wants to live in Canada. But apparently people like Australia.. 🤷🏼‍♂️

1 word, migration

Mate the research shows rolling back negative gearing would have minimal impact on housing costs.

That may have been an anomaly vancouver prices are dropping but not by huge losses like that. They are still insanely expensive. A sfh in suburbs would start at 1.7 million for a bad house but on average 2 million and that would be for an.older house too. Its insane

We're selling our property in Sydney. Feels like its nearing a top.

"Every man needs a castle - except if you live in Sydney?" Feeling stuck, I could scratch together enough for something simple on the outskirts but with AI it just feels like a correction has to take place soon as white collars lose jobs and can't afford their 3.5mill homes.

When the Bank steps in, it can get pretty wild. Many people wont even consider a power of sale because of the legal risk

Wish I could buy it! I LOVE Sydney. You're lucky to live there. Congrats, good luck to you :)

Good Idea

Wow what sticker shock

Invest wisely and then you can buy your house in a few years time hopefully without a mortgage.
