If you earned $52,104 in January 2000, you’d need to earn about $100,003 in August 2025 to buy the same things. Prices for housing, food, gas, and other everyday costs have nearly doubled, so your income has to nearly double too just to keep up.

Note also the US CPI is doctored. Things are a lot worse than this makes out.

Things are rough. But knowing is half the battle. Things are never as bad as they seem, although they are never as good as they seem either.

Interestingly that an average inflation rate of 2.8% - so one could argue it’s an expected (albeit unwelcome) outcome

The fiat money system is a scam, house of cards. That's what I remind everyone of when they try to tell me the same about Bitcoin. Fiat is manipulated by governments and central banks, BTC not. Fiat will become more volatile because the demand will drop to zero, BTC will stabilize with demand.

It’s so interesting when you understand the gold standard and how monetary decisions changed everything over time

Chris

What would you say the US true inflation rate is per year?

jim beam

Wow thats really bad for just 5 years.

Do we not think BTC is manipulated by money makers, central exchange sell offs etc as well though? Adoption is low at the moment and it already moves, imagine when governments and black rock parasites gain more.

Shew I'm safe I didn't earn anywhere near 52k in 2000 😅
