COULD AI REPLACE AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS???

Right now Burbank has none. They all walked out. ATC is being handled out of San Diego 120 miles away... my Q is are they needed in the future when there is nobody in the tower?

Answer is probably yes as long as transponders work on the planes.

Burbank fiasco isn't just a staffing blip—it's a symptom of human fragility in a precision-demanding field. AI's tireless accuracy could make such events and staff relics, delivering safer skies with exponentially fewer errors. If scaled thoughtfully, it aligns perfectly with FAA goals!

Everything is going to change. somethings have to change.

It’s similar to when the government shuts down — it raises questions about which functions are truly essential.

Sorry no. I still have to correct Grok with obvious answers from math to history.

Air traffic control is a 3d problem, vs 2d FSD, nonetheless I believe that eventually it will be bot based, and better for it. I would still want humans present for unexpected emergencies, but fewer humans. However, I know nothing!

AI + human supervisors is the new staffing model

In Canada we're getting ready to test virtual control towers.. where there is no one there, specially for remote regions (Like up North)

Yeah, i had to call it out yesterday when it described the Technoviking as the almost naked aggressor, when he was in fact, the hero, and absolutely not naked.

If you’re planning on fly overseas in the next few weeks, you may want to drive to Mexico or Canada to board a plane, much safer. Sadly this is the future at least until AI takes over.
