I recall vivdly how the Daimler-Benz executives mocked Elon Musk and Tesla, with the company being the parent of the Mercedes-Benz brand. A key example is former Daimler chairman Edzard Reuter, who in November 2015 called Tesla "a joke that can’t be taken seriously compared to the great car companies of Germany" and dismissed Musk as a "pretender" and "joker"

Well the shoe is on the other foot now.

Tesla outsells Mercedes Benz Group for the first time in history! Mercedes reported 441,500 car sales in the third quarter. Tesla reported 497,099 sales. Tesla sold 12.6% more vehicles.

Mercedes made its first car in 1901. Tesla did in 2004.
