MIT Fellow Ray Kurzweil paints a thrilling picture of our AI future — one powered by unstoppable exponential growth. For over 80 years, computing power has exploded by 75 quadrillion-fold, fueling the leap from clunky machines to intelligent systems like GPT-4. What’s wild is that no one orchestrated this rise; it’s the natural outcome of human curiosity compounding on itself. Just as fire, the wheel, and the internet amplified our capabilities, AI is simply the latest — and most powerful — tool in humanity’s long tradition of self-improvement.

Kurzweil reminds us that AI isn’t something separate from us; it’s the continuation of what makes us human — the drive to build tools that make us smarter. And the pace is accelerating fast. He predicts we’ll reach artificial general intelligence (AGI) by 2029, and many experts now agree it could arrive within just a few years. Beyond chatbots and digital art, AI is already rewriting medicine — designing vaccines in days, decoding every known protein, and inching us toward “longevity escape velocity,” where science adds more than a year to our lifespan each year.

The best part? Kurzweil is no doomsayer — he’s a believer in abundance. AI, he says, will unlock limitless clean energy, cure disease, and merge our minds with the cloud by the 2030s, making us smarter, healthier, and maybe even funnier. To him, the purpose of AI isn’t domination — it’s elevation. A future where love, creativity, and consciousness expand together. In his words, from stone tools to GPT-4, this has always been humanity’s quest: to make ourselves a little more godlike.

I hope he is half right!

h.t to Sanjay for bringing it to my attention.

I believe he takes 150-200 daily supplements to stay alive until 2029 where medical advances will let him survive until the singularity. He originally predicted the singularity happening by 2045, glad to see tech advancing even faster!

This is what I was talking about with grok ages ago. I see a world where we can download our consciousness to the cloud, and interact in the digital world with AI. In that world, you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. The start of the matrix? F*ckkkkkkk 🤯

Can you add some functionality like what does Right Capital that not only projects CAGR growth but also withdrawal situations with the modelling of allocations to IRA & Roth and 401K etc tax advantaged accounts, after tax brokerage accounts and from which withdrawal amounts can be adjusted from various retirement funds sources among some other really nice features?

paradox

This is horrifying.

Transhumanism. If you're a person of faith this is prophetic and evil.

Check out Gregg Braden and his latest book (and lots of talks on YT) about his philosophy of "Pure Human" and what we still don't even know that we are capable of via our 'soft technology' - aka we may be the last generation of pure humans per transhumanism. Merging with technology for humans is not likely going to lead to goodness, however, utilizing AI and tech as tools for good is obviously possible. Sadly, I don't feel that the intention is all good for life and human life specifically ... it's all about the people who program it as we know, intention is everything and trusting the technocracy to be solely benevolent feels naive (to me).

One might be able to make an argument for ai making the species exponentially more unified and productive, but I would argue it will certainly make us less human, robbing us of our cherished individuality and creativity. I suspect anyone thinking differently already lacks in those characteristics. Nevertheless, here I am investing it in, trying to maximize my last days as an individual before the rise of the Borg, lol.

Happy to see a post about Ray Kurzweil. We are about disruptive investing.

Humans are also violent and petty among other things, less humanlike can be good too.
