I'd be careful quoting Elon and bitcoin! LoL There are 100 things that could be pulled up where he dumps on it too. He makes a lot of comments, some with good factual knowledge and others without. Remember he was on the whole bitcoin bad because power GRR! bandwagon for a while. Hi James, Greetings from Cape Town :-) Recent Patreon member and been watching your videos for years, thank you for all the knowledge that you share with us! A question which has been playing on my mind quite a bit - what happens to Tesla (and SpaceX, Optimus etc. etc.) if anything should happen to Elon? He is the visionary behind all these - but what happens if heaven forbid he has a heart attack or is incapacitated and can't run Tesla anymore? There is no one quite like him! Thanks :-)

If I understand correctly It costs energy to produce this special type of data which people want because it’s rare and internationally recognized as a store of value. But the energy is already spent so each BTC also represents the release of a significant amount of sequestered carbon (directly or indirectly) and I don’t know the relative energy expenditure to transact BTC vs an energy efficient coin. BTC is currently the best way to store value, but is it really the best way anyone can come up with? Can something equally limited and rare but energy efficient ever be accepted?

Network effects make it unlikely that we will see another digital store of value replace bitcoin irrespective of what form energy expenditure it has. The only thing holding up the value is our belief that it is valuable, so basically, adoption. It is the most widely adopted and that is not likely to change anytime soon.
