Based on the current trajectory, the transition from 17.5% to 80% will likely happen over a few years, potentially 3-5 years, depending on macro factors... either way ICE/Hybrid vehicles will be around 20% market share by 2030.

To our whole community: James seems to know what he's doing. I'd advise don't go wandering around looking for other investment ideas such as my shorting GM (I thought I was really smart, buying 2027 puts on GM). Maybe it'll work out, but today's 16% spike on GM's earnings report drove home the lesson I keep learning: There is a winning community here with winning assets!! Probably plenty right here to grow bags tremendously. Telling myself: "STOP chasing shiny new objects !!"

I work for a utility and I have serious doubts about whether the electric infrastructure can support that kind of growth in that amount of time. The changes that have to be made to accomodate that kind of transition to electric charging for the masses are sweeping and take a lof time, and require lots of new equipment that takes a long time to build, and is usually only built after the order comes in. And the industry is usually reactionary, starting to build only after transformers and feeders get overloaded for long periods. NIMBY also plays a big part, making it very difficult or impossible to put in new substations where needed. New susbtations are absolutely necessary to deliver so much more electricity. So dont be one of those NIMBY people if you want this future to unfold. You cant have it both ways.
