Apple’s latest iOS update (26.0.1) includes a powerful new feature to protect you from spam and scam callers.

Here’s how to turn it on:

  1. Open Settings

  2. In the search bar, type “Phone.”

  3. Scroll down and enable “Ask Reason for Calling.”

    • This feature requires unknown callers to state their reason before your phone rings. As a scammer they will not expose themselves to this.

  4. Keep scrolling to “Call Filtering” and toggle “Spam ON.”

    • This automatically blocks numbers flagged as spam or fraud.

Since activating these settings, one of our Patreon Community members have reported a complete stop to fake calls from companies like fake “Google” or “Coinbase,” and phishing attempts through phone and Gmail have disappeared. I am very grateful she shared.

Highly recommended for everyone — especially to keep scammers from reaching you.

Also available on security apps like Bitdefender, if you're Android or Linux like me :)

Ah yes, and never answer numbers that you don't recognise. If it's important they'll leave a message. Scammers almost never will.
