A low ratio means people are betting the market will go up, and a high one means they’re worried it’ll fall. Right now, the ratio is 0.62, the lowest since 2020, which means traders are very bullish and confident.

James, when you’re entering synthetic long positions, when do you decide to close the puts you sold in order to use those proceeds to buy more calls? The sold puts in hand can only appreciate to the full price they were sold for. But many of my calls are up much much more during the same time. Wouldn’t you harness more alpha buying back the puts before expiry?

You’d also be able to use more of your money on hand bc it wouldn’t need to be held in reserve in case the sold puts hit.

Is this a self fulfilling prophecy though?
