When you said you shipped them I was like "yeah not gonna last long" xD. I never liked Ward but I was shock and shook when he did that.

Even when the show references the rest of the MCU, you'll never be lost if you don't watch any of the movies. Every important connection to Winter Soldier was explained (Fury dies, Hydra comes out). But it's so much better to see in the right ofder. You see Sitwell leave ep 16 and turn up in the film. The Hydra reveal happens in the film (between the episodes) and then you learn about Hydra near the start of ep 17. Publicly Fury is dead because he “dies” in the movie. Fury used Fitz’s mouse hole to escape the Hydra soldiers that were after him and then in 1x17 Fitz explains that he created the mouse hole (which they used to get off the Bus) and sent the specs but it was never distributed. Garrett said that the top agents always hog the best gadgets. :) I love how much you love May. Maybe almost as much as I love May. (No one loves May as much as I love May!) The show continues to be amazing through season 5….so JUST KEEP WATCHING! And we'll keep watching you!

I was hoping you were going to watch "Captain America: The First Avenger" first because it puts The Winter Soldier's characters in better context. It also makes it so you understand who Agent Carter is AND you really understand the significance of HYDRA. You understand, after watching Winter Soldier then, that HYDRA had infiltrated SHIELD from way back in WWII. That's what the computer told Cap.

By the way, you can tell, by the sound it makes when fired, what type of gun it is. The icer sounds more...muffled and technical/computerized and less loud and mechanical than a regular gun. So you always know when they use an icer and when a real gun.

The connections you get from the movie is the HYDRA takeover, not the Clairvoyant. The Clairvoyant is completely on the show. You wouldn't understand HYDRA and what it was. HYDRA is HUGE and the movie shows you the weight and thorough infiltration of the takeover 'cause you wouldn't even know what HYDRA was (since you didn't watch the 1st Capt America movie), so you'd be TOTALLY confused if you didn't watch the movie. You would've understood more of HYDRA if you'd've watched the first Captain America movie. HYDRA is an off-shoot of the Nazis. They were a special division of the Nazis that looked for extraordinary means (supernatural, super science) to win the war and take over the world. They became their own thing and broke with the Nazis. The takeaway, which doesn't really matter much going forward since the movies only tangentially tie-in to the show after this, is that it pays to watch things in order. When you don't, you don't get the references and therefore the weight of the relationships. You don't get that from watching The Winter Soldier or Agent Carter without watching The First Avenger, etc. From this point on, they reference things from the movies, but they're not essential. They're a bit more like Easter Eggs after this. This was a HUGE tie-in.

As usual, I'm re-watching your reactions while waiting for more AOS S2 reactions - you mentioned that you should have watched Winter Soldier after this episode. I agree. The relationship between the movies and the Marvel TV shows is pretty loose. They can't assume that everyone who sees the movie will watch the show or vice versa. So, as you noticed, there's enough explanation in AOS to cover people who didn't see the movie or are seeing it later .
