Yessssss, my favorite episode in the entire series!

fun fact: ian (aka damon) directed this episode :)

THANK YOU! Stefan is always making it about himself and saying it’s his fault! 🙄 It’s like if someone he knew on the other side of the planet died he would say, “I should have saved them, it’s all my fault.” Like get over it Caroline turned her humanity off because her Mom died not because you rejected her! Get over yourself

HazelAmarie

I don't think Elena made anything about herself....She was adamant on helping Caroline she was simply speaking from HER experience.......Caroline herself tends to be hypocritical so I found it funny how she tried to preach to Elena about morality and making things about herself......Let's not forget this is the same girl who killed 12 witches to save Bonnie (someone she loves and cares about) then turned around and condemned Elena for killing Jessie in order to save Damon (someone Elena loves and cares about) even had nerve to say that the "old" Elena would've given Jessie a chance or the entire Elena falling in love with Damon thing she projected HER feelings towards Stefan upon Elena and acted as if Elena's SOLE PURPOSE in season 4 was to "please" Stefan she didn't care how Elena felt she made that entire thing about HER and her feelings for Stefan. Or claiming Elena was sleeping with the enemy then turns around and has sex with Klaus idk I find Caroline annoying and judgemental....This humanity off phase is even worse......Elena has yet to call her out for it as long as we're excluding the time she had her humanity off. For the most part Elena has been a GREAT friend towards BOTH Caroline and Bonnie both have been judgemental or made her feel guilty for loving Damon....Bonnie is now at a point where she accepts it same with Caroline but it took damn near 6 seasons for them to even get to that point.....Whereas Elena didn't judge Caroline for sleeping with Klaus someone who's killed her, Elena's aunt and used Elena as his personal blood source nor did she get on Bonnie for her judgemental past....Elena doesn't get enough credit.

HazelAmarie

Also didn't like how Bonnie used her experience with Kai to personally harm Damon....I understand where she was coming from but none of that was Damon's fault he was simply the middle guy trying to get his mother back from the 1903 prison world where he soon learns how she abandoned him and Stefan, faked her own death and left them with their abusive father.....Bonnie tends to intentionally physically harm Damon a lot throughout the series for things that aren't even his fault which is why I can't find it in myself to ship their friendship as it can at times get extremely toxic and one sided.

caroline without humanity is my favorite no humanity vampire lmfaooo. i agree, if stefan had left her alone, she wouldnt have gotten angry and vengeful and stefan would still be with his humanity. idk i always kinda assumed it was because he wanted to be with her during her grief, and wanted to tell her that he did have feelings for her and stuff like that. also because he didn't want her to turn on her humanity later and feel overwhelmed with grief and stuff, but eh. anyways, one thing is for sure = stefan without his humanity is definitely not as careful as caroline without her humanity soooo im super excited for your reaction to 6x17 :)

I think Stefan kind of uses him being responsible for no humanity Caroline as an excuse because when he triggers her and she runs off he tells Elena "I can get her back" and I think he doesn't mean that because he´s her emotional trigger but because he wants her back and that´s his motivation. He just wants her back because she´s clearly fine and he´s not blind so he should be able to see that. So his reason was pretty selfish but he just figured out his feelings for her but she´s gone so he just wants her back. That´s my theory. Of course he´s afraid she´s gonna fall off the rails but the way he so desperately said "I can get her back" makes me think that there was more to it then he led on

Bonkai was my main ship during season 6 despite the history between Bonnie and Kai but they do have a lot of chemistry together lol

There's a difference between sleeping with him once out of lust and being in a committed romantic relationship with a guy who continues to do horrible things (well, until season 6) and I'm not even going to talk about the fact that it was a random, pointless fanservice thing. Caroline was absolutey right to feel the way she did about Elena being with Damon. He raped her, tried to kill her multiple times, tried to kill Bonnie, killed Jeremy, almost killed Jeremy again (in season 5!), etc. etc. the list is long. I could also go into a whole essay about why killing 12 witches is different than killing Jesse, starting from the fact that Jesse didn't want to kill Damon while the witches did try to kill Bonnie on purpose to Elena having the option to snap his neck while Caroline had no other choice... I don't think there was anything wrong with that. Similarly, Bonnie was justified in her "judgemental past". At least in season 6 one can see development from Damon that justifies Elena being with him

Ehm. What? It *was* Damon's fault, that he shoved Kai in her face after she explicitly says she doesn't want to see him and she's clearly suffering from PTSD. As much as I love Damon in season 6, that is absolutely his fault. Also, "Bonnie tends to intentionally physically harm Damon a lot".. you mean in the first 2 seasons, where he tried to *kill* her for sth that wasn't his fault or tried kill her friends? Or when he threatened to kill Jeremy in season 5? Let's not pretend that Bonnie is problematic in this friendship. It's definitely not one sided As for toxic.... Damon's friendship with Bonnie does something that no other relationship in the show has achieved - it makes him a better person. Look at this episode for example: Damon does the usual, does something bad to take advantage of something but then what? OMG he *apologized*, hasn't done that before1

HazelAmarie
>>13946842

Shoved Kai in her face? Bonnie had enough distance and time to leave the rave by her own freewill so you're definitely exaggerating.....Bonnie's experience with Kai isn't Damon's fault nor is it his fault she is suffering from PTSD so her physically harming him doesn't make the situation any better. Damon hasn't apologized before? He's done it for Elena PLENTY of times....Elena is what made Damon a better person that's been rooted since season 1.....Bonnie was too busy judging and trying to kill him for things that weren't his fault ie Caroline becoming a vampire she tried to burn him alive for something she ASKED him to do which was feed her his blood and BLAMED him for Caroline becoming a vampire let's not forget that the reason Caroline, Tyler, Stefan and Damon's lives were put at risk was all due to Bonnie LYING about the Gilbert device.....Even had part in killing her grams because she stubbornly wanted to get Stefan out of the tomb then turned around and blamed Damon and Stefan for it.....Literally no one asks Bonnie to make sacrifices she does them willingly then complains about it which is just ridiculous.

HazelAmarie
>>13946367

Damon had his slip ups who is denying that? But to say he continued to do "bad things" until season 6 is ridiculous....Are you forgetting Damon gave up HIS future with Elena to bring his brother back from the other side? Took a werewolf bite and nearly died just to save Caroline? Defended Caroline in front of her mother when her mother couldn't even bare to look at her after she found out she was a vampire? Taught Jeremy how to hunt vampires? The countless of great things he did for Elena? Please.....Klaus has done nothing but terrorize Elena and all of her friends what good has he brougnt towards them? You can call Damon a complete ass in season 1 but there's no doubt that he's made major progess in latter seasons leading up to season 6. You can't list the difference because Caroline did it to save Bonnie someone she loves just as Elena killed Jessie to SAVE Damon someone Elena loves there is no difference and it was hypocritical of Caroline to play moral police when she's done the same thing and at even worse extents.

4Tom4lepus4
>>13946367

Well, slip ups is a bit of an understatement when people die, don't you think? Killing Aaron when "Elena" broke up with him? Sth that was never brought up again? Yeah... I'm not defending Klaus, I don't even particularly like Klaus, but he has helped them find the cure and he did cure them of werewolf bites Yes, there IS a difference. Elena could have easily snapped Jesse's neck and saved Damon by doing so, but she didn't. On the other hand, Caroline's ONLY option to save Bonnie was killing the witches who, again, were PURPOSELY trying to kill Bonnie

4Tom4lepus4
>>13946842

Yes, he shoved him into her face. She said she doesn't want to see him, he knows sth is wrong with her and yet he does it anyway. Her experience with Kai isn't Damon's fault, but him putting Bonnie into this situation is, no matter how you twist or turn it. Standing 2 feet away from Kai doesn't change her PTSD in any way, and again, he *knew* that. I'm not defending that Bonnie hurt him, but he purposely triggered her PTSD for his own advantage. They're both equally at fault in this situation. When has Damon ever apologized for the horrible things he's done to Bonnie or Caroline? I don't even remember a sincere apology to Elena, but you're probably right that he has apologized to her. Ehm. WOW! Again. WOW! They were not friends in season 1 or 2, so I don't see how this even means their friendship is toxic..?! And good job ignoring the fact that he TRIED TO KILL HER IN EPISODE 9 of season 1, waaaaay before Bonnie even practised magic enough to do anything to him. And why did Bonnie lie about the Gilbert device again? Oh yes, bc Damon and Stefan were ripping through the town of people she's known her entire life! Damon snapped Jeremy's neck and literally seconds before tried to stake Caroline, how is she NOT supposed to judge and blame him? She even says "everything that happens is his fault" which at that point, IS TRUE. Why was the Gilbert device even in play? Why were the tomb vampires running around? Why were a bunch of people dead in the city? Oh right, because of Damon's actions throughout season 1. Elena has honestly just indulged Damon's bad behaviour by forgiving and being with him regardless of what he's doing. That's fine, not shading her for it, but it's fact. She attempted to change him in the beginning of season 3, but since then, nothing

I am just going to say that Klaus helped them bc he needed Elena's blood for creating hybrids.

4Tom4lepus4
>>13946367

Yeah, true, but Damon saving Caroline and Tyler was also done to take away Klaus' sacrifices and save Elena, so it wasn't a selfless act for her, if you get what I mean?

Jeremy

I always thought Stefan was so stupid for turning off his humanity lol. Like he could of faked it xD

Bria Bey

I definitely loved Ian Somerhalder angles and shots of non humanity Caroline in this episode

Bria Bey

To he lighting was on point as well.

Ok that last comment about Bonnie was really dumb and you know it "no one asks Bonnie to make sacrifices she does them willingly then complains about it" That literally made me want to scream, and as someone that only started liking Bonnie in season 6 that comment still hit me. Are you insane, Bonnie was ready to sacrifice her life, NO Bonnie did sacrifice her life for everyone, she was completely fine with dying and moving on, she never asked to be tortured by some maniac for weeks and be left in solitude for months. She wanted to die, move on, find peace and that didn't happen. She came back, she was grateful, BUT HELL YES I would complain if that happened to me. And it's not like every second was her complaining. She pretended to be ok, which they all do time to time which isn't ok, and went through the day with her PTSD. She told Damon she never wanted to see him again and YET he still brought Kai to her. Damon knows her, he knows that if he had asked her, she said no, maybe he waits a few days for her to settle in, gone back to her, spoke it out and told her everything, Bonnie would've done it again so Damon is in the wrong for this 100%, did he deserve to get hurt, no, but for one, he's been through way worst and this only lasted 20 seconds, and two Damon has DONE way worst when angry so please, I don't care not one bit if you like Bonnie or hate her but, don't question her being the hero of the show or compare her trajectory to Damon's that was just low and pathetic.

Raven

Maybe Stefan WAS actually a part of the reason why Caroline switched her humanity off. Why else would she say that Stefan is the only one who could bring her back?
